Gordon’s Guests Guesthouse is situated in a rural part of the mainland of Thailand, amongst a local community, just off the Island of Phuket. Although off the Island, it is close to the Airport of Phuket and very convenient. It is 26.5km north of the airport, across the Sarasin Bridge which links the island to the mainland of Thailand.
Saijai, a Thai lady, is our business partner and looks after the Guesthouse. She speaks English (pretty well) and lives 3 houses away. The property that our Guesthouse is built on originally belonged to her father and there are a number of her family members around our Guesthouse. She is your contact person in the absence of Allan or Janet.
Gordon’s Guests is 700m from the local beach. One can walk northwards for miles along this beach. Much development is taking place along this beachfront, to the North, and there are currently a number of boutique hotels and luxurious houses with more development taking place on a daily basis.
The most popular time to go to Thailand is during their winter months – November to April. The temperature ranges from about 15˚C (at night, on a cold night) to 35˚C on a lovely sunny day. There is very little rain to speak of during these months and the sea is absolutely calm and clear. The other months constitute their summer months. This is when one experiences extremely hot weather (up to 45˚C), rain, humidity and wind, more commonly known as the ‘monsoon season’. The seaside restaurants, pubs, ‘trading’ stores, etc., close for this period – in fact the beaches often close for this period as the sea is rough, the rain gives very little warning of its arrival, and lying on the beach can be most unpleasant. However, the towns, shopping, and the ‘night’ life remain open all year round. So, depending on your needs, Phuket is an all year ‘venue’.
